Don't work at a company with an IT/IS department unless you ARE the IT/
IS department, and, more to the point, you control the firewalls.
I think one of the big reasons that Small Companies Are Winning (TM)
is that they tend not to have heavy-handed IT departments.
Of course, the job of an IT goon in a firm of more than 20 people is
to reduce risk and maximize predictable operation. Hah! Predictable
operation with desktop computers. That's funny.
But to get this predictability, they have be really strict about how
the computers behave. It's just not a job I want.
